Breath is life force energy. Breath is the number one tool to totally transform our lives. However, most of us breathe in shallow spikes. I know that the ability to take deep, profound breaths has meant the difference of life and death for me. I have been in periods of my life where I thought I simply couldn't go any further. It was doing breathwork that got me through those dark times.
So when we make the powerful commitment to breathe deeper than we ever have before, our lives can truly take off in magical and exciting ways. What parts of your life could you completely change simply by making deep breathing a major part of your daily routine?
Here is a simple breathing practice you can do right now:
Simply take a deep, long slow breath. Fill your belly completely with air first, and then once the belly is full, fill the entire chest with air as well. Fill up your lower belly, mid-belly, low-chest, and upper chest with air.
Then slowly release your breath. Empty your chest and belly completely.
Breathing in again, filling up your belly and chest completely.
And breathing out again, emptying your lungs and belly... all the way out.
To really amp up your energy, keep a connection between your inhaling and exhaling breaths, allowing no pauses between them. Allow the incoming breath to melt into the outgoing breath, and allow the outgoing breath to melt into the incoming breath. Let your breath be an unbroken circle.
As you are breathing, focus on the center of your chest, and imagine that your heart-center opens and expands -- wider and wider -- with each inhale.
And with each exhale, relax your body and sink into the energy of love in the center of your chest.
Keep going for as long as you like.
